It's the little things that keep you going

Normal service is resumed!

I have been thinking and I can not let this little outlet for whimsy and things I love fade into the backgroud. If anything, it is more important now than ever before to make time for it.

Little things that made me happy today:

1. Speaking to my 71 year old grandmother who told me she went whitewater rafting on holiday last week along with my grandad and 60+ aunt and uncle. Incredible!

2. Hearing my musical moniker being read out on radio (I was tweeting, I have not yet written anything radio worthy!).

3. A beautiful email from a friend I haven't seen in a while.

4. Being sent new music.

Sometimes the simplest of things make the day better than it would otherwise have been.

The Good Old Days

The last post neatly brings me to my next point, have you ever noticed the people who don't seem to glisten with sweat from an evening of dancing? There are people wearing woolly jumpers in overcrowded clubs who don't have a single hair out of place and are inexplicably not waving their hands about their person in a vain attempt to cool down. There are the boys who, in a packed venue, keep their jumpers and parkas on with no outward sign of being uncomfortable despite the temperature being about 30 degrees. And then there are always girls who look as pristine as they did 4 hours ago, no make-up smudges and perfect hair and no hint of them having exerted themselves on the dance-floor. I had a deep-set distrust of these people until last night. It was at the point where I had to tie my hair up because it was actually sticking to me (mmm, lovely) that I noticed the types of people I mentioned above were on the dance floor but not actually dancing. I never set out to achieve anything which is just as well as I have written lots of things that mean nothing to some people and more to others. I like being able to write about music and admittedly have been a little lax about it lately. So on that note, a couple of recommendations for you now. First up are the wonderful Mitchell Museum who are captivating to see live. Using a typewriter as the sound of a cash register during a live cover of M.I.A's Paper Planes song was pretty cool I must admit! Take The Tongue Out is chaotic in the best way possible and the harmonies on Tiger Heartbeat are just plain lovely. Check them out at www.mitchellmuseum.co.uk . Next up is Chris Flew.
